We are to be a people who do good deeds. That’s a very significant part of who we are as Jesus’ followers. So let’s look for the many opportunities that God places in our paths to bless others. Let’s use all of these blessings to bring God glory!
"The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7, NIV)
Your Creator can see things in you that other people cannot see. Sometimes people will try to push you down or make you feel insignificant. Sometimes our own thoughts will try to convince us that we don’t measure up. But God looks beyond the surface, beyond the mistakes you’ve made, beyond what somebody said about you and sees your incredible value. You may think, “ I’ve messed up. I have blown it. I have failed. I’m all washed up.” No, God still sees more in you. God doesn’t just see what you are; He sees what you can become. You may have made some mistakes, but God still sees victory on the inside of you. People may have tried to push you down, but God sees you rising higher.
Now, you’ve got to do your part and get rid of those condemning thoughts. Get rid of what somebody has spoken over you and start renewing your mind. Down deep, start believing that you are redeemed, restored, talented and valuable. Even if you have made mistakes, believe that there is more in store. God’s not finished with you. He looks beyond the surface and sees your potential. Stay in step with Him and watch His plan for your life unfold.
A Prayer for Today
Father, thank You for looking beyond the surface and seeing the real me. Thank You for placing Your potential on the inside of me. Help me to know You more and see You more clearly so I can follow Your ways all the days of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
We don’t always understand God’s methods. His ways don’t always make sense to us, but we have to realize that God sees the big picture. Consider this possibility: You may be ready for what God has for you, but somebody else who is going to be involved is not ready yet. God has to do a work in another person or another situation before your prayer can be answered according to God’s will for your life. All the pieces have to come together for it to be God’s perfect time.
But never fear; God is getting everything lined up in your life. You may not feel it; you may not see it. Your situation may look just like it did for the past ten years, but then one day, in a split second of time, God will bring it all together. When it is God’s timing, all the forces of darkness can’t stop Him. When it’s your due season, God will bring it to pass.
You must learn to trust God’s timing. You can be sure that right now, God is arranging all the pieces to come together to work out His plan for your life. He has been working in your favor long before you encountered the problem. Don’t grow impatient and try to force doors open. Don’t try to make things happen in your own strength. The answer will come, and it will be right on time.
God knew there would be times when we would be tempted to waver in our confession of hope. Maybe you are believing for something and you’re starting to think, “Is this really for me? Will this really ever happen?” If that’s you today, remember, He who promised is faithful! And His faithfulness doesn’t depend on your ability to figure it all out. His faithfulness doesn’t depend on the plans we can make or the scenarios we can come up with; He’s faithfulness depends on His Word which never changes!
Declare His Word and hold on to your confession of hope today. Be confident that God can make a way when there seems to be no way. Even when your mind may waver, don’t allow your confession to waver. Declare that God is working behind the scenes on your behalf. Declare that He Who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it. Remember, there is power in your words and power when your words are in agreement with His Word. As you hold on to your confession of hope, you’ll see His faithfulness, and you’ll move forward into victory in every area of your life.
You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. (Genesis 50:20)
These are the words spoken by Joseph to his brothers, years after they threw him in a well and left him for dead, then decided it would be better to sell him into slavery. God took Joseph on quite a journey; from slavery to the palace to prison, and back to the palace, where he landed a position as second in command to Pharaoh and in charge of the whole land of Egypt. Certainly, Joseph’s brothers intended to harm him, but the sovereign God never wastes our time.
. Did you hear that? God never wastes our time.
It may seem like it now as you live between jobs wondering how in the world you will be able to pay the bills…
It may seem like it now as you wait for God to bring the right mate into your life…
It may seem like it now as you recover from another round of chemo…
It may seem like it now as you live in the consequences of your sin…
It may seem like it now as you do your best to get through the day with your broken heart…
It may seem like it now as you recover from the death of a dream…
It may seem like it now as your life has seemingly been placed on hold…
But…the Sovereign, Almighty, All-Powerful God never wastes our time.
So hang in there! God is using every minute (every nano-second) to mold you into the person he needs you to be for the next leg of the journey. God is at work…He loves you with an unconditional love…He has given you an inheritance that can never perish, spoil, or fade…He has purchased you with the precious blood of his Son. He has eternity invested in you! Ask him what he wants you to learn and how he wants you to respond to today’s assignment. He is not wasting your time.
Father, for those who feel like they are stuck and their life is on hold…for those reeling from a difficult relationship or circumstance…please encourage them today with some tangible evidence that you are not wasting their time. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue…(Proverbs 18:21)
What are you speaking this morning? Are you speaking life or death? Are you speaking faith or fear? If we are to live a victorious life, we have to verbalize our faith. Instead of saying, ” I hate Mondays.” say, “This is the day the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad In it.” Instead of saying, “I have a bad feeling about today.” Say, “God you are going to do something great today. You are going to open up new doors. You are going to present me with new opportunities. You are going to use me to be a blessing to someone in need. You are going to shower me with your favor and goodness.” When you choose to speak life, when you choose to speak faith and God’s word to every mountain and situation, and to every negative thought and feeling, You will begin to see God move mightily in your life!

We find it easy to be incensed when wrong is done to a friend. We are ready to fight injustice when someone we love has been wronged. However, God reminds us that our worship means little if we do not also protect those who are weak, marginalized, oppressed, and forgotten. It’s not just our friends who need our help; it’s also those who have no friends who need us. “To do right” doesn’t just mean being a good person and avoiding evil in our sanctified little enclaves; it also means to care, comfort, and encourage those no one else wants to notice.
God is a God of Second Chances-and third and fourth and even more chances. He loves you. God’s approval is not based on your achievements. It is based solely on the fact that you are His child and He sees the best in you. There is nothing you can do, and there’s nothing anyone else can do, that will ever change your value in God’s eyes. But you have to do your part. Quit over-analyzing your faults; stop taking an inventory of everything wrong with you. You make mistakes, ask for forgiveness and then move on. Don’t become overly concerned if you are not changing as quickly as you would like. Stay focused on what you can become, and God will get you to where you need to be.
